Fast paced detective novel with Mob Tie-in's, Harry Bosch is the anti-hero hero who solves a classic who-dun-it. Well-written action scenes and good characters help move the story along. Written with some notes of dark humor, the high point of the story comes in the determination of the lead character to persevere in the face of adversity. With no real female co-leads to speak of, the author does touch upon some social taboo's in the workplace as well as presenting some stereotypical archetypes for the characters; which is understandable given the nature of the story.

Not only a fantastic read, but a fantastic title to go with it. As an author I am always amazed at Mr. Connelly's gift of story development. Never a wasted character nor word. One of my favorites. Ralph Griffith, author of Confessions, a Johnny Walker Novel.

Love this series. This is a solid entry in the collection. I'd simply suggest to not make the mistake I did and read them in order
