Overall, an amazing book. It's a quick read, and very fast-paced for young readers from the ages 8-12. I could not put it down; every chapter leaving you hungry for the next. Matthew J. Kirby is a very talented author, this coming from reading his other top-selling novel: Icefall. In The Clockwork Three, Kirby has established the characters well, along with their personalities. From the first word of the book to the end, I was hooked, and I was eager for more adventures of Frederick, Hannah and Giuseppe. Each characters' personality was overwhelmingly thought of, and was consistent throughout the book. Frederick's eagerness to complete his automaton made you eager for him. And Hannah's sad tale of her family made you feel for her - you wanted t reach out and hug her. For Giuseppe, he is very adventurous, but all the same, you can feel his sadness leaking from inside. It is very complete to the ending, and the Epilogue was a finishing touch. It showed Frederick's feelings toward Hannah, and Hannah's gentleness coming through with her roughness. Maybe it was just me, but I loved The Clockwork Three, and I know other younger readers will love it. Out of ten, I would put 11/10.

This is probably one of the my personal favorite books of all time because the entire story is exquisitely plotted and includes a hook that just makes you never want you put the book down and just read on. The story is excellently paced and gives you a sense of adventure while keeping you in the minds of the characters and really getting you to feel what the characters are feeling and feel what is going on in the story. This is a wonderful book and one of my personal favorites of all time.

It is a very good book and most people would say it is a very confusing book,but it isn't for me. P.S. I'm 11 years old and i said that.

Matthew J. Kirby is the critically acclaimed author of the middle-grade novels Icefall, which won the Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery and the PEN Literary Award for Children's Literature; The Clockwork Three, which was named a Publishers Weekly Flying Start; The Lost Kingdom; Last Descendants, an Assassin's Creed novel; The Quantum League: Spell Robbers; and Cave of Wonders, the fifth book in the Infinity Ring series.
