About this ebook

This fast paced book tells the comically raw and honest story of Mario, a vivacious fashionista, who transform into the fabulous "awkward hitch" right before the eyes of everyone she knows. Marlo moved from New York to London to make it in the music business, aided by the money made at her day job as a luxury retail manager. Her plans are bamoozled when she starts to lose her eyesight after only a month of living in her dream city! Through a series of roller coaster events taking her to Paris, Miami, London, and New York, she is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, the most common disabling neurogical disease affecting young adults today.

The thing I love about this book is just how horrifically raw the author writes about coping with a new chronic illness. It's not all Jesus and smoothies and expensive health/religious retreats to rediscover yourself. This book is angry, awkward, depressed, and stubborn evolution to becoming the new sick version of self while trying to keep anything you can from the life you loved before. I needed this book a while ago. I needed it now. I don't think/know/care if the author and I share the same diagnosis. In the end, at the very core, all chronic illness folks can relate to her struggles. I wasn't terribly thrilled with the ending. It was a bit overly positive for my taste, but I still loved the book as a whole.
