About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The book that sparked a revolution and inspired the hit Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo: the original guide to decluttering your home once and for all.

ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL BOOKS OF THE DECADE—CNN

Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?

Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you’ll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method, with its revolutionary category-by-category system, leads to lasting results. In fact, none of Kondo’s clients have lapsed (and she still has a three-month waiting list).

With detailed guidance for determining which items in your house “spark joy” (and which don’t), this international bestseller will help you clear your clutter and enjoy the unique magic of a tidy home—and the calm, motivated mindset it can inspire.

I knew about this book before the Netflix series but after watching decided to purchase to get all the other "tips" from the original. The show basically gets all these points across and the simple writing style of the translator were done well. I recommend reading if you aren't going to watch the show, but if you do, this didn't add much more.

This book conveyed an interesting approach to clearing the clutter in your home. I liked her theory, and i can see myself using her guidelines. Shes a little "out there" with her belief that inanimate objects and clothing know they don't bring you joy and are deserving of a new life somewhere else. Whatever. ...

Reading this book, I know I'll probably not apply 100% of the book's principles, but she offers a lot of insight to tidying that I didn't really think about as much before-- or had thought about, but didn't fully apply. I welcome new cleaning techniques. I only dock a star because I do think that I can fully make use of something that doesn't make you feel completely happy. Also, a lot of her conclusion is simply hyptheses about the outcome people happen to just look more radiant after using her method.
