About this ebook

The world already knows Meg and Charles Wallace Murry, Calvin O'Keefe, and the three Mrs--Who, Whatsit, and Which--the memorable and wonderful characters who fight off a dark force and save our universe in the Newbery award-winning classic A Wrinkle in Time. But in 50 years of publication, the book has never been illustrated. Now, Hope Larson takes the classic story to a new level with her vividly imagined interpretations of tessering and favorite characters like the Happy Medium and Aunt Beast. Perfect for old fans and winning over new ones, this graphic novel adaptation is a must-read.

This graphic novel is best read on a tablet device.

Disclaimer: Haven't read the original novel. This was required reading for my comics class. The story pacing felt so off. 100 pages in, I felt like nothing had happened. Later, when I had 50 pages left, I had no idea how the plot would be resolved so quickly. Many conversations took up an abnormally large page count for a comic - the near five pages of speech bubbles on solid black (since Meg can't see) are the worst offender. The art is also kind of shaky. Stylistically, it's not terrible, but many expressions look bizarre, posing is strange and/or stiff, and there are odd design choices for some of the characters, like the creepily bug-eyed Charles Wallace. The actual narrative was confusing and somewhat cliché as well, but I have no idea if that's the fault of the adaptation or the source material. I almost ragequit halfway through. Definitely not recommended.

I had the pleasure of reading a Wrinkle in Time years ago. I will love to read this book to my kids as the pictures and the story come together.
