The Kite Fighters is about a boy Young-sup and his older brother Kee-sup. Young-sup can make a kite do whatever he wants. Kee-sup can make a kite fit for a king. When the king sees their kites flying he wants them to fly in the new year kite fighting contest. According to tradition Kee-sup should fly but since Young-sup is better, they will have to convince their father to let Young-sup fly.

In early Korea, Young-sup learns about family traditions and the love of his father as he and his older brother skillfully fly a kite for their king.

In this exciting novel two brothers must work together to win the New Year kite-fighting competition. Young-sup is an amazing kite flier and his brother Kee-sup can make a kite worthy of a king, but is it enough to win the competition and become the best boy kite fighters in the country?
