May change rating once I fully finish the book. I'm half way in. I love Rom-Coms. Obsessed with books and movies. I generously hand out 4 stars. I'm a Writer myself so I want to be kind. Given this as Lila's first book, her bookbaby well done. However, the dialogue can be frustrating, unoriginal and trite. I must confess Lila's grown in her authorship since this book writing more books and series. I wish her the best and for me, I'll move beyond first editions. Recommended Author from Julia Kent. Do read Julia Kent's RomComs as well.

Three and a half stars. Gemma Jones works for a fashion company that helps clients change their image. In her spare time she also donates time to helping women at a shelter find clothes for job interviews. When a big new promotion is on the table at work her boss gets Gemma and her arch-rival to do a make-over on an unsuspecting male to turn him from disaster to GQ-ready. Her nemesis chooses Gemma's Bigfoot next door neighbour, the sort of guy who wears shorts and flip-flops all day long, eats cereal for lunch and plays computer games all day. The only catch? Gemma can't tell Bigfoot about the competition. Zach Morrison sold his tech start up company for millions, just days after his divorce was finalised, now he's enjoying cutting loose and relaxing, so what if that involves lots of ladies and not shaving or getting dressed or buying furniture for his apartment? Okay maybe he has taken things too far. Zach reluctantly agrees to help Gemma but as they work together they discover they made some wild assumptions about each other. I liked this but it was overly predictable. Of course Gemma is too shallow to see beyond the shaggy beard to the man beneath. Of course Zach is a millionaire but lives like a slob. Of course keeping the competition a secret from Zach is a bad idea. It was all a bit Pretty Woman except Zach got the makeover and he was a millionaire. I think this is perfect beach reading, light-hearted and fun, easy to pick up.

Every single time I start reading a Lila Monroe book, I know I’m going to not only enjoy it, but think about it well after I’ve finished. Every. Single. Time. And her latest romcom, How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days, showcases the exact reasons as to why I love her books! Fun, flirty, with the perfect amount of humor and sexual tension, this book’s enticing storyline and unforgettable characters make it not only entertaining but heartwarmingly romantic! After the very brief glimpse of HTCAGITD we get at the end of Man Candy, I couldn’t WAIT to read it! Gemma and Zach’s quirky and antagonistic neighborly “relationship” was just downright delightful. Their combative banter and seemingly polar opposite lifestyles infuse the story with wit and playfulness. The energetic connection between them sparks off the pages, eliciting a powerful intrigue and intimacy that thoroughly engages the reader from start to finish. And the transformation their relationship takes from enemies to friends to lovers was entirely smooth and seamless, matching the progression of the storyline flawlessly. This fresh and lively new Chick Flick Club Series is one I’m super excited to continue reading! If the next books in the series are even remotely as fantastic as How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days, then I know I’m in for an entertaining and laugh-out-loud treat. If you’re new to Lila Monroe’s books, then there’s never been a better time to start reading than NOW! A definite 5 star must read that does not disappoint!
