About this ebook

An actress in danger. A bodyguard on a mission. A passion neither can resist.

She's everything he detests about Hollywood.

After spending my entire acting career being cast as the airhead, I finally have the serious role I've been dying for, and I screw it all up during a four martini dinner with my ex. Now, thanks to the morality clause in my contract, I might lose the role of a lifetime. My only hope is to convince the media (and my eccentrically conservative director) that I've entered a committed relationship. But when I use my brother's costume party to launch Operation Fake Fiancé, I end up in front of the camera with the wrong guy, leaving my reputation—and the fate of my career—at his mercy. Any other guy I could sweet talk into playing the supporting role I need, but not Officer Cade Watts. Not the man who hates everything about me. Not the man who would most revel in seeing me fail.

He's everything she needs.

I don't care how good it felt to have her in my arms. I don't care that I can't close my eyes without remembering the way she tastes or the sound of her moan. I want nothing to do with Janelle Crane. Her scheme to fake an engagement to save her own career is exactly the kind of manipulative Hollywood crap I left LA to escape. But when her fan mail turns threatening and the tragedies befalling her former co-stars seem to be anything but coincidence, everything changes. Now I don't just want to play the part of Janelle's fake fiancé, I demand it. I won't let my jaded heart cost me another case. I may not trust Janelle but I do care, and the only way I know she's safe is if I'm holding her close.

We have met Cade and Janelle in the author's previous books, but this book can be read as a standalone. In the epilogue of Playing With Fire I got to read and enjoy a passage about Cade attending a Halloween party as Batman and sharing a scorching kiss with Catwoman. This glimpse into the dynamic between them had me anxiously awaiting this book. I have truly loved the New Hope books and characters. I hope the books in the series and spin offs never end. Catwoman turns out to be the actresses Janelle Crane. Her life is in the midst of a media circus and career woes. He ex husband is creating drama and she needs help bringing her image back to a more wholesome one for a morality clause in her contract. Cade is a police officer who moved to New Hope from California after a failed relationship. The woman that burned him was an actress and he swore he would never get involved with another one. When he finds out the gorgeous woman who he shared a kiss with is no other than actress Janelle Crane he backs away. When Janelle's life is threatened and she has a stalker will Cade put his baggage aside and protect her? Can he move beyond his past and care about someone who lives a life in Hollywood? Can Janelle trust another man after her ex husband's cheating ways? Will their chemistry win and keep them close or will outside forces keep them apart?

Holding Her Close was amazing! I started reading this via Lexi Ryan’s weekly emails, and it was amazing how Thursday’s became my favorite day of the week just to get a glimpse at a new chapter. I won an ARC and was able to get the ending just a week or two early and I love Janelle and Cade! This book starts with the Halloween party from at the end of Playing With Fire. Cade is taken with Catwoman and they share a super hot scene together… Janelle still in her mask, Cade revealed. Cade has been burned badly by an actress before so when they are captured on camera that night, and when he sees this, he is angry. Janelle goes to escape back to her place in California, but it seems someone is after her and a couple of her previous cast mates… Will they be able to find out who is behind the stalking, will Janelle get caught in the crossfire of the stalker, and will they be able to keep the chemistry on the backburner? There are a lot of interesting twists to this book! Yet again, this is another amazing story by Lexi Ryan! <3<3<3<3<3
