To be noted that Stuart Briscoe is only one of the author's. He only does a couple of them. Hence the title, "Preacher's" commentary. Different preachers did different books It is a marvelous style of commentary. Again reads like a devotional, and the notes/stories, are really quite interesting, and insightful. Quite alot of information.

Liked the explanations and narratives, that are relevant and practical. Worth using it in daily study.

About the author

Leslie C. Allen is Professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary. Formerly he was Lecturer in Hebrew, Aramaic and Judaism at London Bible College. He holds the MA degree from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, in Classics and Oriental Studies. His PhD is from the University College of London, In Hebrew. Among his publications are The Greek Chronicles Parts 1 and 2 (supplements to Vetus Testamentum) and The Books of Joel, Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah for The New International Commentary on the Old Testament, as well as the section on Psalms 101-150 in the Word Biblical Commentary and Psalms in the Word Biblical Themes series.

Stuart Briscoe was born in England and left a career in banking to enter ministry full time. He served as senior pastor of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, Wisconsin, for thirty years. Stuart has written more than 50 books, preached in more than 100 countries and now travels the majority of the year as a minister-at-large for Elmbrook. Stuart and his wife, Jill, share their powerful Bible teaching through Telling the Truth, their international broadcast ministry (www.tellingthetruth.org).

Sinclair B. Ferguson (PhD, University of Aberdeen) is a professor of systematic theology at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Walter C. Kaiser Jr. (PhD, Brandeis University) is distinguished professor emeritus of Old Testament and president emeritus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. Mark D. Roberts (PhD, Harvard University) is executive director of the Max De Pree Center for Leadership at Fuller Seminary. Previously, he was senior director of Laity Lodge and senior pastor of Irvine Presbyterian Church in Southern California. He studied at Harvard University, where he received a PhD in New Testament and Christian Origins. He has written several books, including his most recent: Can We Trust the Gospels? (Crossway, 2007).

Douglas Stuart (PhD Harvard) is senior professor of Old Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He controls the use of fourteen ancient languages and is the author of several books, including Studies in Early Hebrew Meter, Old Testament Exegesis: A Primer for Students and Pastors, and Favorite Old Testament Passages.

Don Williams (PhD, Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary) is founding pastor of the Coast Vineyard Christian Fellowship in California and has taught at Claremont McKenna College and Fuller Theological Seminary.
