About the author

George Lekakos is an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Management Science and Technology, Athens University of Economics and Business, Athens, Greece and a visiting lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus. He holds a BSc in mathematics (Greece), an MSc in software engineering (UK), and a PhD in intelligent media (Greece). His research interests include interactive television applications, digital content management, human-computer interaction, and machine learning with emphasis on the design of personalization algorithms. He has published more than 30 papers in international journals and conferences, and he is the editor of books and conference proceedings. He is a member of the EuroiTV steering committee and heads the Intelligent Media Lab group within the ELTRUN eBusiness Research Center. Since 1999 he has been involved in several European Commission funded research projects and he has been appointed as project reviewer by the European Commission and the General Secretariat of Research and Technology in Greece.

Konstantinos Chorianopoulos is a lecturer at the Department of Informatics at the Ionian University (Greece). He holds an MEng (Electronics and Computer Engineering, 1999) an MSc (Marketing and Communication, 2001), and a PhD (Human-Computer Interaction, 2004). During his studies and research, he has been affiliated with engineering, business, and applied arts universities. Since 1997, he has worked in four academic research labs (Greece, UK, Germany), which specialize in the areas of multimedia, e-commerce, intelligent systems and interaction design. He has participated in many EC-funded research projects in the field of human-computer interaction for information, communication and entertainment applications in TV, mobile, and situated computing devices. In 2002, he founded UITV.INFO, which is a newsletter and web portal for interactive television research resources (papers, theses), news and events. He is the main author of more than ten journal papers and he has lectured internationally (conferences, tutorials, seminars, guest lectures) on several aspects (design, engineering, science, art) of interactive TV. He is serving on the steering committee of the European Interactive TV organization and on the editorial boards of ACM Computers in Entertainment and of the Journal of Virtual Reality and Broadcasting.

Georgios I. Doukidis is a professor of information systems in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds an MSc and PhD from the London School of Economics, where he taught in the Information Systems Department (1984-90). He is founder and director of the eBusiness Research Center of AUEB (ELTRUN) which is one of the largest in European Business Schools with 30 researchers and specializes on digital TV, supply-chain management, e-business models, digital marketing and IS management. He has published 14 books and more than 200 papers. His two latest books are: Social and Economic Transformation in the Digital Era (IGI Global, 2003) and Consumer Driven Electronic Transformation: Applying New Technologies to Enthuse Consumers (Springer-Verlag, 2004).
