About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE UPCOMING STREAMING SERIES REACHER

Family secrets come back to haunt Jack Reacher in this electrifying thriller from “a superb craftsman of suspense” (Entertainment Weekly).

Jack Reacher hits the pavement and sticks out his thumb. He plans to follow the sun on an epic trip across America, from Maine to California. He doesn’t get far. On a country road deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been: the town where his father was born. He thinks, What’s one extra day? He takes the detour.

At the same moment, in the same isolated area, a car breaks down. Two young Canadians had been on their way to New York City to sell a treasure. Now they’re stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. The owners seem almost too friendly. It’s a strange place, but it’s all there is.

The next morning, in the city clerk’s office, Reacher asks about the old family home. He’s told no one named Reacher ever lived in town. He’s always known his father left and never returned, but now Reacher wonders, Was he ever there in the first place?

As Reacher explores his father’s life, and as the Canadians face lethal dangers, strands of different stories begin to merge. Then Reacher makes a shocking discovery: The present can be tough, but the past can be tense . . . and deadly.

This edition includes an excerpt of Lee Child’s novel Blue Moon.

I love your books as great stories to be told. Interesting how you brought two stories together to make one. Enjoyed hereing more backround on the reacher family tree. Would've enjoyed reading more about extended family tree of father's roots. Many accounts i think were overly descibed in minute detail. Which made me want skip parts to get to the point. Made these oversimplified details borderling on boring. But read through entire story reguardless. Dont stop writing the Jack Reacher series, please as I'm committed to reading all published Signed, Diehard fan!

Lee Child has written many number 1 best-selling books I believe he can add another one to the list. The suspense, thrills and mystery is Child's triple threat punch. He build the scene from different characters point of view letting the story build in your mind in three and four dimension. This one let's you know more about Reacher's family. He per usual is just curious enough about something to take that one step right than the step left and ends up neck deep in trouble. What will happen when a Reacher is pitted against a bunch of psychos and armed assassin. Well let's face it this isn't the first time. Reacher rule #1. Never stop. Lol

I enjoyed this addition to the Reacher series. In it, we have Reacher looking into his father's past and the town he (dad) grew up in. While that is occurring, Patty and Shorty, a Canadian couple, are traveling to NYC, when they develop car problems. They stumble across a motel way off the beaten path and immediately, something seems "off", but, as their vehicle won't start, they're effectively trapped. I found there story particularly disturbing, but would worry about anyone who didn't find it disturbing. I kept waiting for the two story lines to connect, but they didn't until the much closer to the ending, however, it was worth waiting for. This novel started slowly to me, but kept picking up steam as it continued moving along. This book is more of a gradually building story as opposed to the more constant fast action in some of the prior books. However, having said that, there is still plenty of violence and opportunities to "get retaliation first". I enjoyed learning more about Reacher's family history. While this book is a bit different, it is well worth reading and should be at the top of every Reacher fan's TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.
