About this ebook

In the eerie wasteland of Dartmoor, Sherlock Holmes summons his devoted wife and partner, Mary Russell, from her studies at Oxford to aid the investigation of a death and some disturbing phenomena of a decidedly supernatural origin. Through the mists of the moor there have been sightings of a spectral coach made of bones carrying a woman long-ago accused of murdering her husband--and of a hound with a single glowing eye. Returning to the scene of one of his most celebrated cases, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Holmes and Russell investigate a mystery darker and more unforgiving than the moors themselves, in Laurie R. King's The Moor.

engrossing and very entertaining. Russell makes good use of the original Hound of the Baskervilles story to create mood and humor. I'm almost getting used to the unfortunate fact of Sherlock Holmes being married. unfortunately King still seems to get kind of perverse pleasure out of alluding to their time in the bedroom. still one of the best in the series so far.

Miss Russell and her husband return to the scene of his most famous case to tackle a delicious blend of myth, mystery, and murder with one of the great British eccentrics of all time. LRK nails time, place, and character in this well crafted brew, served with perfect scones and clotted cream.
