About this ebook

Like Adam Silvera's They Both Die at the End and Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us, Before I Fall raises thought-provoking questions about love, death, and how one person's life can affect so many others. With this stunning debut novel, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver emerged as one of today's foremost authors of young adult fiction.

For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—"Cupid Day"—should be one big party, a day of valentines and roses and the privileges that come with being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is…until she dies in a terrible accident that night.

However, she still wakes up the next morning. In fact, Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.

Before I Fall is now a major motion picture Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, and Kian Lawley. Named to numerous state reading lists, the novel was also recognized as a Best Book of the Year by Amazon, Barnes & Noble, The Daily Beast, NPR, and Publishers Weekly.

So, I read the summery and read a few reviews but it wasn't until I read her other 2 books (Pandemonium & Delirium - both deserving of 100 stars!) that I decided to give this very highly reviewed book a look. Now I know that the story line between her other series and this book are TOTALLY different, I get that, but I have to say in comparison this book fell short. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this book, but it is, after all, basically a remake of Groundhog Day (she even references it in the book). That kind of took the wind out of my sails. I loved the original and this teenage take, just couldn't stand up as well. There were defiantly some chapters I liked more than others; I loved the chapter where she and Anna became "friends" and of course the chapters that included a fuller Kent character. I found the inner mono-log of her experience with Mr. D really funny - much closer to the truth than young people think. Bottom line ... read this book first, before the Pandemonium series, then I think the full potential will show as Lauren Oliver's writing skills grow! Still a good read. :)

Despite being well out of my highschool years and the message it sends to the younger audience, Before I Fall made me reflect on my own life, my decisions, mistakes and loved ones. So much it brought tears to my eyes thinking about the impact you can have on someone or something around you.
