For Andreas, the pull he feels toward Kari cannot be ignored, it’s an immediate and unbreakable physical bond and the reader can’t help but get pulled into this sensual romance as Andreas brings out a sexy, passionate side of Kari that she knew existed. The attraction is undeniably hot but Kari was brought into this new world rather traumatically and abruptly which keeps the relationship in a bit of an uproar emotionally. A fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers hanging on to every page with lots of suspense, excitement, romance and strong, charismatic characters that seduce the readers into their story. The story starts off with an intense event and never loses momentum and the romance and deadly events keep readers on the edge of their seats. With spine tingling tension building as the danger to Kari and her new family escalates because someone refuses to accept Kari as queen. The intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment and that the readers remain glued to the pages as the well written scenes full of vivid details paint effortlessly pictured scenes that make it easy for the reader to become completely caught up in the events. Lauren Dane manages to imbue every world that she creates with a vibrancy that really draws readers in and the Cherchez Wolf Pack continues that tradition with some interesting and different elements and strong energetic characters. Wolf’s Ascension spans a bit of time and is full of surrounding plots and romances so there really is a lot going on which kept me from putting the book down and I really wasn’t ready to leave this fascinating pack, so I can’t wait to read the next book. 4 ½ STARS

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. I have read Lauren Dane before but this was my first venture into her fantasy romance. I enjoyed what I read from her previously. But maybe that’s because they have all been novellas/shorts, or the purpose of them was dirty delicious sex. This was definitely not one of her better ones. Unless you are reading it for sex. The short version: the plotline is an old tired one that is literally a dime a dozen. I felt that Dane used it just to have a plotline at all to further her characters relationship. Her characters weren’t very original either. This would have all been more acceptable had I felt the author tried but I genuinely felt that this story and these characters were created purely to have a sexual relationship. I will concede, however, that the erotica aspect is pretty well written. There are some non-hetero scenes as well as...sharing? So if you want something more vanilla in the romantic department, you should pass this up. If you can get past the ridiculous aspects and poor writing in terms of plot and characters, you may enjoy the erotica. You’ve been warned though.
