About this ebook

Miriam Hastings has her future plans in place...
But Trygve Knutson is intent on changing them.

Just a few short weeks into her year-long training at the Blessing Hospital, Miriam Hastings is called home to Chicago, where her mother is gravely ill. With siblings to care for, Miriam pleads to be allowed to finish her training in Chicago. Her nursing supervisor grants her a brief reprieve but extracts a promise that Miriam will return to Blessing and fulfill her one-year commitment.

While in Chicago, Miriam has tried to get Trygve Knutson and Blessing out of her mind, but his letters make that impossible. Trygve is busy building a house, hoping he can convince Miriam to return to North Dakota and marry him. Torn between Trygve's love and her family's needs, she doesn't know what to do.

When Miriam finally returns to Blessing, she buries herself in her work. But no matter how hard she tries to put it off, she has some life-changing decisions to make about her future, her family... and the man who is never far from her thoughts.

What will it take to convince her to stay?

This is the second book in the Song of Blessing series. I would recommend reading the first one, To Everything a Season, first. I have not read the first one and had a difficult time keeping everyone straight. According to one review there is a family tree on the paperback version which would have helped me I think. I also feel I was missing some of the history of the families, but could still keep the story line straight. I did feel a little lost at times, especially in the first half, but could still enjoy the book. This novel is focused on Miriam Hastings and Trygve Knutson, yet Trygve's family are all major players. This is more than your typical romance. The whole town is facing many changes. They experience growth, more immigrants, some prejudices and trials. You will fall in love with many of the characters in this book and also want to slap a couple of them. To watch the Knutson and Bjorklund Families keep their faith throughout all the trials they face in their daily life is very encouraging. Miriam will learn a lot from these wonderful people. Lauraine Snelling writes with passion and even though the people and town are fictional they really come to life. Their problem
