About this ebook

Is it possible that good things can come out of our broken dreams?

Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story’s life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Their lives would never be the same.

Yes, with God all things are possible. But the devastating news was that no cure existed to restore Martin’s short-term memory, eyesight, and other complications. The fairy-tale life Laura had dreamed of was no longer possible. And yet in struggling with God about how to live with broken dreams, Laura has found joy and a deeper intimacy with Jesus.

In When God Doesn’t Fix It, Laura helps you understand that:

  • We aren’t the only ones whose lives have taken unexpected turns
  • Even heroes of our faith experienced brokenness
  • Despite our flaws and stories, God can use us in extraordinary ways

God may not fix everything. In fact, although your situation might not ever change or get better, with Jesus you can. Not because of your faith, but because of the faithfulness of God.

A beautiful and moving book about caring for someone who is ill with a chronic disease. It will make you laugh, love, cry and remember that even though God doesn't always show his plan in ways we like or understand their is a reasoning behind everything. Our journey is not to understand but to accept the plan and have faith. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

Laura's story (no pun intended) is deeply personal and thus, deeply moving. Through it she shares unending, Scripturely-sound truths, such as we can still get "better", even if our circumstances (and we in them) remain "broken". My husband has suffered two TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) through two, separate, traumatic accidents, both of which nearly cost him his life. Is it any wonder I can connect with Laura and Martin's trials? I found more hope in reading through Laura's testimony than in any support

Her story resonated with me. Though I still can't see the purpose in my brokenness at losing my only child to leukemia, it gives me some hope that maybe, just maybe, one day I will.
