Foreshadowing in the prologue keeps you guessing throughout the story. But it also giving a hint of what is to come for the Lore. What's an IAD book without Nix?! Right from the beginning Rök and Poppy say "You" when they see each other. I love how we see the semantic shift of the word throughout the book. Reading it at the end made my heart swell. I love Rök! He is so laid back and witty, despite the torture he's been suffering for the last two years. Rök can go toe to toe with Poppy in their banter. They jab back and forth so effortlessly you would think they could read each others mind. Super fun! Per the norm in the Lore, everything is so vague. Poppy is on the hunt for what she believes is something that will break her curse. However, she has to fight through the curse to find the cursebreaker. Her nightmares give her quite the surprise and it makes the adventure so much harder. Rök and Poppy are the perfect fit. I loved the combination of adventure and romance.

Bought it this morning and finished it before noon! It was a wild ride and so much fun. Our two protagonists are just burning with chemistry and that ENDING! Can't wait for the next book in the series to see how it all pans out. Kosmina's book can't get here soon enough. Cole proved once again why she is my favorite author, I'll be reading anything she publishes like it's my part-time job at this point!!

Although a stand alone in IAD Poppy and Rok are not strangers to us and give a temporary fix to our craving for the lore. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the next one It is a shorter book(more like the first ones than more recent) it is still fleshed out well and I enjoyed learning more about a powers manifestion and the issues of learning it.
