an excellent Ya novel for young people able to listen to chapter books. 5th and 6th graders could easily read it with help on the unfamiliar monster names and the boys will likely relish the "blood and guts" of the story. it's an adventure story in which Travis approaches his 12th birthday when he will be allowed to select a body for shape shifting. On his inaugural flight as a wyvern, he comes across a wealthy man from an alternate Earth kidnapping monsters from this more magical reality and taking them back to our Earth to sell. He is himself kidnapped and thus begin his adventures. In the end, he managed to cobble together enough cooperation from the assorted monsters to free them all from the evil clutches of the greedy humans and return home.Along the way he manages to learn some important life lessons about the integrity of the individual and their choices, leadership, and doing what one can, ignoring ones own limitations. I recommend for middle school and up.
