I read the first chapter. It was available as a free sample. It was excellent. Given it seems like a little time capsule of past Japan it feels like it typifies the era it is from because it's portraying children fairly accurately in a school environment. And the interpersonal relationships between the main character and his mother and with his friend and the one girl in his class all show wonderful little authentic feeling glimpses of what's going on deeper down with the main character. Yes, be is just a young kid. But this doesn't feel like some shonen adventure manga protagonist. He's just a regular kid who messes around doing regular kid stuff. And obviously that means that many readers will identify with at least some small part of his experience. Haven't we all had a day like that? The Art style is one you don't see much anymore in manga. Slightly more 'American' looking, which dates it to perhaps the early 1980s as its typical of that time. Love the action & visual composition.
