I so like the Tempe of the books. Not of the TV show. This latest book had me hooked from page 1. She accomplished the impossible task of dragging Ryan back from despair. Their repartee is still razor sharp. Dialog amongst the joint task force is hot from friction yet productive in curious ways. Slidell actually grew to be a bit lovable, while Ryan steamed up Tempe's thoughts. And the inclusion of Tempe's mother was a brilliant idea. NHGD: No housework got done at my home--again:-) Hooked!

Both the novel and the novella are line shots for any lover of the original Temp Brennan. Good introduction for those who miss her alternative universe sister from TV, as well.

I learned more about pythons than I ever wanted to know! I'm glad Ms. Reichs used her considerable skills to bring this to the attention of the public.

About the author

Kathy Reichs is the author of nineteen New York Times bestselling novels and the co-author, with her son, Brendan Reichs, of six novels for young adults. Like the protagonist of her Temperance Brennan series, Reichs is a forensic anthropologist—one of fewer than one hundred ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. A professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, she is a former vice president of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Reichs’s own life, as much as her novels, is the basis for the TV show Bones, one of the longest-running series in the history of the Fox network.
