About this ebook

A gripping short story from the New York Times bestselling author of Pieces of Her.

A beautiful young girl was walking down the street―when suddenly…

Julia Carroll knows that too many stories start that way. Beautiful, intelligent, a nineteen-year-old college freshman, she should be carefree. But instead she is frightened. Because girls are disappearing.

A fellow student, Beatrice Oliver, is missing. A homeless woman called Mona-No-Name is missing. Both taken off the street. Both gone without a trace.

Julia is determined to find out the reasons behind their disappearances. And she doesn't want to be next…

Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes is a prequel to her novel Pretty Girls. A young woman goes missing in the college town of Athens, Georgia, and her description reminds Julia Carroll of herself: Nineteen, beautiful, blonde hair, blue eyes. Julia gradually becomes obsessed with the case and gets permission to write about it for her college paper. Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes is not as suspenseful or mysterious as most of this author's books have been.. but it is still a really good read. Karin Slaughter knows how to write and she drew me in from the very first line.

I've read books Ms Slaughter and have been impressed. But one particular short story was a bit too strange for me. It was a bit too unsettling for me. Maybe that's what it meant to be. I just didn't like how the story ended. Ms Slaughter is still a talented and very imaginative writer in my book.
