In WELFARE WIFEYS, Kwan picks up the story of Gucci and Animal along with some colorful new characters. Each character has one thing in common as they try to survive in the complex hood world. Animal has reached stardom as a hip hop star but will he be able to bury his street mentality? Or will he forever be a product of his environment. Gucci has vowed to stay by her man Animal, but will she be able to do so if he has answered the call of the streets? WELFARE WIFEYS was an exceptional read. It was good to find out what was going on with Gucci and Animal. But I was also excited to read about some of the new colorful characters that Kwan intertwined into this novel. WELFARE WIFEYS was a gritty street tale that anyone that reads it would be able to relate to. Whether you grew up in the hood or you knew someone that did, you would be able to understand the angst of the ‘WELFARE WIFEYS’. As usual the book leaves you wanting and desiring so much more than what was given, so I can’t wait to see what Kwan comes up with next. Reviewed for the RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

This book was a great read! It seemed to capture the reality of what its like for those living in the projects. I hope there is a sequel, I wasn't ready for it to end so quickly.
