Another billionaire story. this one has the girl the daughter of a Mafia monster who definitely does NOT want to join the family business now that her grace period away from family with real world experience is expiring. When faced with marriage to a balding, out of shape contact her heir apparent brother needs for his scheme to murder his father and take control of the syndicate, she panics and announces she has accepted a quickly made-up proposal to the city's wealthiest bachelor she just met in less than flattering circumstances. He, natch, has absolutely no idea. Could be a diverting rom com except for the constant threat from the nasty crime lords. So it winds up being a heavy handed series of comedic episodes with a constantly mentioned oppressive overlay. The HEA arrives for all the sympathetic characters by the end. I never felt the sense of dread I should have but then there was no elation either. Read it if it's your subgenre. It wasn't mine.

I've read Juliette's vampires series & archangels series. Now the mafia?! this book was excellent & I enjoyed it. I felt for Connor & I understand his pain & his needs to avenge for his family. powerful! until Mia. I truly enjoyed her character bc she was starving for her freedom & I loved her sense of humor. this book surprised me & I couldn't put it down!

Good writing, great characters, believable story. I enjoyed getting to know Mia and Connor.. Why, I ask, are the men so far out of normal life in so many ways. If they were not, I'd have a tough time picking one. Maybe two?!
