About this ebook

The aftermath of “THE BUTTON” has left Barry Allen—the Fastest Man Alive, known as the Flash—at a crossroads. Can he continue lying to the woman he loves about his secret identity? Can he mend his broken relationship with Kid Flash? Green Lantern Hal Jordan offers some advice, but Flash doesn’t have much time to make a decision, courtesy of the return of his greatest enemy, the time-traveling Reverse-Flash! Eobard Thawne has taken Iris West to the 25th century to reveal Barry Allen’s most closely guarded secrets to her…before killing Iris and the Flash! Following them to the future, Flash finally learns why his arch-foe from the future hates him so much, but even that knowledge may not be enough to give him a fighting chance against a villain who knows all his possible futures. Following the events of “THE BUTTON,” the future unfolds as never before in THE FLASH VOL. 4: RUNNING SCARED, the epic adventure from writer Joshua Williamson and artists Carmine Di Giandomenico and Howard Porter. Collects THE FLASH #23-27!

I am done with DC and it all goes back to the flash, more specifically, Barry Allen, the flash that no one wanted back. For most of us, Wally West was the only flash we ever knew. Sure we read about his idealization of Barry and the sacrifice in the first Crisis, but we saw Wally surpass his mentor in every way. Wally did things Barry never even though of, and was on the league for longer than Barry was as well. All of a sudden DC not only forces Barry down our throats as the one and only flash, but it has to delete wally and all of his achievements (despite the fact the Clark should have remembered him and done something more for him but that's just too little too late). It was bad enough that wally lost his family, and the recognition of everything he had achieved as the flash, both on his own and as the league's speedster. But wally didn't even think about the latter, I did because he was my hero, but because he was a hero it didn't even occur to him that he's the one that the Rogues should fear, not the guy whos been dead longer than he was the Flash. But to add insult to injury we get the crapfest that destroyed his character, his legacy and ultimately his life. We finally got him back after years of being stuck with Barry and the fake kid flash. Granted hes stuck on the titans and hes that other flash that no one remembers but hes back!! Destroying his life and making him a b list hero was not good enough for DC. They were not happy until they made him a killer and changed his character so that he acted contrary to how he's acted almost his entire life. Wally West would not have compounded his mistake by using time travel to cover it up (character mistake #1). Sure it never occurred to him to try to prevent the accident (character mistake #2), or if he was going to commit suicide how about doing it before the accident even happened? All of then obvious ways to make what happened a little better but DC was hell bent on destroying any possible legacy that wally had left. I was done. I finally got my flash back, and in no time his legacy and character was totally destroyed, and they killed him too! Well good job DC you lost a reader. I was already pissed over the JL movie and the loss of 2/3 of the Trinity the only good thing to come from the movie and then it seemed like there was a mission to ruin the one and only Flash for most of us who grew up reading and watching on the too short lived Justice League and Unlimited cartoons, again where wally was the one and only Flash. Well mission success you forced barry back down our throats, despite that no one wanted him back, erased his career and legacy, his family, then made him act totally out of character in order to accomplish the story they wanted to tell despite it not making sense, made him a killer and liar, and finally killed him. I know im not the only one that thinks all of this and is done with DC; I hope it was worth it.
