About this ebook

Lucas Davenport tracks a prolific serial killer in this nail-biting #1 New York Times-bestseller from John Sandford.

Clayton Deese looks like a small-time criminal, muscle for hire when his loan shark boss needs to teach someone a lesson. Now, seven months after a job that went south and landed him in jail, Deese has skipped out on bail, and the U.S. Marshals come looking for him. They don't much care about a low-level guy--it's his boss they want--but Deese might be their best chance to bring down the whole operation.

Then, they step onto a dirt trail behind Deese's rural Louisiana cabin and find a jungle full of graves.

Now Lucas Davenport is on the trail of a serial killer who has been operating for years without notice. His quarry is ruthless, and--as Davenport will come to find--full of surprises . . .

Good but took off slowly as opposed to his usual grab you on page one and make it difficult to put down until the end. The ending also left me unsatisfied. I've read all the Prey and Kidd Novels as well as the individual stories. I akways look forward to Lucas' books and would enjoy another Kidd novel. KeepThem coming please. I've not been able to get into the Flowers series yet. Dont know why not but perhaps I just need to go back to the first one and try again. Before I became involved with e books John were one of only 5 authors I would buy in hardback. Its easy to see why isca Pulitzer winning writer. This the first Prey novel I've rated only a 4 but I would still others to read it. Although each book will stand alone I'll also suggest begining with the first and reading all of them in order to maximize your pleasure in the growth and development of the characters involved.

I was so excited when I read my first prey novel in 05.That I could not read another J.Patterson novel again. This was actually my stlye of writing. He's a busy writer with 4-5 thing's going on. I read my first prey novel in 2days. Till I bought phantom prey, I didn't think he could do no wrong. But I was disgusted with the way lukas Davinport turned out in this novel. I'm no longer a fan. And I wished I was mistaken by what I read. But when he is living on his own&gets up and walks to the window and has perverted thoughts while staring at a pregnant woman Breast feeding her kid. And the characters in the 1st few chapters are transgender+gay&all 3 sleep together. And all the while her daughter is missing. I'm no longer a fan. It's like he joined a house wives book club. Patterson and sandford are now on the same level. Great

After something like 40 books between the Prey and Flowers series, I'm always thinking that there's not going to be a unique storyline or that I'm going to be sucked into the book like I've been in the past. I was so wrong about that. This is my favorite Davenport book yet! There's so much suspense. I was, at times, literally on the edge of my seat. In true Lucas fashion, there were plenty of times that I was laughing and I even shed a tear or two. I'm already hype by the next book in this series. I can't wait to see what shenanigans this crew gets up to next.
