This book reminded me quite a bit of The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. It seems like he took a bunch of short stories & put together. Rudd plays in the gray area of the legal system to get what he wants regardless of the consequences. There's lots of loose ends hanging in this story. Two bad guys are still out on the prowl and no justice is brought toward them which leaves a hole in the story. Would I read it again? No, this is not Grisham's finest work nor could it be considered even in the top 20.

I have read every book published by John Grisham, and this has got to be the worst. It seems like a collection of short stories, perhaps some good ideas the author may have had about future books that did not pan out, all cobbled together to get enough words to total up to a ebook. if you are a fan of Grisham, do not buy this book, do not read this book. you will be disappointed.

I generally really enjoy Grisham novels, but this one feels like several short stories half-heartedly stitched together. The book lacks the tight narrative structure I am accustomed to from this author, though the plot is interesting enough. I was shocked when I reached the last page and realized there was nothing more, as it all came to an abrupt and unsatisfying ending.
