About this ebook

A Newbery Medal winning modern classic about a racially divided small town and a boy who runs.

Jeffrey Lionel "Maniac" Magee might have lived a normal life if a freak accident hadn't made him an orphan. After living with his unhappy and uptight aunt and uncle for eight years, he decides to run--and not just run away, but run. This is where the myth of Maniac Magee begins, as he changes the lives of a racially divided small town with his amazing and legendary feats.

Maniac Magee, what a read. This was one of those books that was assigned reading in school, but that you were glad to read. It grapples with issues of racism and segregation, but manages to do so in a way that grips young readers and runs the gamut of emotion. This book will make you laugh, it'll make you cry, it'll make you think and feel. A childhood favourite for sure, and it still holds up to a re-reading as an adult.

Maniac Magee is one of the best books I have ever read. Maniac Magee is not only funny but a little depressing. Maniac Magee is about a boy who started out as Jeffrey Lionel Magee, his parents died when he was only 3 years old. Then,he moved to his closest relatives Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan ,they were always fighting. So, Jeffrey thought they were fighting because of him. So, He ran away.
