About the author

Jaroslav Vrchlický was one of the greatest Czech lyrical poets. He was nominated for the Nobel prize in literature eight times. Joachim Friedenthal was a German journalist. Ion Luca Caragiale was a Wallachian, later Romanian playwright, short story writer, poet, theater manager, political commentator and journalist. Lazar "Laza" Lazarevi was a Serbian writer, psychiatrist, and neurologist. Svatopluk ech was a Czech writer, journalist and poet. Kálmán Mikszáth de Kiscsoltó was a widely reputed Hungarian novelist, journalist, and politician. Ksaver andor Gjalski was a Croatian writer and civil servant.
