About this ebook

An elite scientific military force must combat a plague beyond any cure—a scourge that turns all of nature against mankind in this nail-biting new thriller from James Rollins, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sigma Force series.

From the depths of the Indian Ocean, a horrific plague has arisen to devastate humankind – unknown, unstoppable…and merely a harbinger of the doom that is to follow.

Operatives of the shadowy covert organization Sigma Force, Dr. Lisa Cummings, and Monk Kokkalis search for answers to the bizarre affliction aboard a cruise liner transformed into a makeshift hospital. But a sudden and savage attack by terrorist hijackers turns the mercy ship into a floating bio-weapons lab.

Time is an enemy as a worldwide pandemic grows rapidly out of control. As the seconds tick closer to doomsday, Sigma’s commander, Gray Pierce, must join forces with the beautiful assassin who tried to kill him – following the trail of the most fabled explorer in history into the terrifying heart of an astonishing mystery buried deep in antiquity and in humanity’s genetic code.

This is the first Sigma Force book that I read. I really enjoyed the story and liked the characters and it didn't matter that I hadn't read the previous novels in the series. What drew me to this book was that I had read the James Rollins based some of the characters from Sigma on Doc Savage and his companions. I enjoyed the story, but I remember being slightly annoyed by how ridiculously competent and clever the bad guys were. They knew things and had resources that broke my suspense of disbelief. I really enjoyed the connection between historical events and science fiction, the action and adventure elements of the story, and the diverse locations visited by the characters.

What an amazing rollercoaster ride! I've been unable to stop reading this Sigma series since beginning it a couple of weeks ago, and the Judas Strain is the most intense thus far. In these times of COVID-19, the book is almost a premonition of the past 2 years, and how a plague/pandemic could start. Knowing the science and history are accurate, makes this even more enjoyable (and chilling)! I highly recommend this book.

This was the first book I read of the Sigma force series and I enjoyed it dearly. I'm a science student and I enjoyed reading about the science-based theories that he used in this series. It's a must read :)
