"Angel" picks up where "Fang" left off. "Fang" has left the flock leaving Max distraught. The more time she spends with Dylan the more she feels drawn to him; after all he was created to be her mate. The mad scientists are determined to convince Max that it is her destiny to save the world. They expect her to mate with Dylan in Germany and produce a large flock. There is a movement afoot to protect the environment which humans have pretty much messed up. However, the way the activists want to protect the environment is by killing all humans. In the meantime Fang has formed his own flock. He has even found a girl that looks just like Max. He calls on Max for help in stopping the activist (the leader is One Light.) I have never cared much for Angel but in this book she has matured and is very likeable. I have been a fan of this series from the beginning, although some books have been more enjoyable that others. This one stands firmly on the enjoyable side. It was rather sad to see Max and Fang part ways however. This is a series written for juveniles and, as adults, we know that first loves are not always last loves. Angel is well-written but is a bit darker than previous books in the series. James Patterson leaves readers with a chilling cliffhanger. This is the next to the last book in this series. I really hate to see it end. I have enjoyed watching the characters evolve into more mature, adult-like beings. This review is of the audio book read by Rebecca Soler; her voice lends much to the ambiance of "Angel". The next book is "Nevermore" due out in August 2012.

I highly suggest this book to teens, and tweens. With a bit of romance, action, and the good ol' Max you fans out there know about. Even for people who haven't read the rest of the series, they fill you in briefly in the beginning so you can know about everything that is going on. ALthough they do fill you in, It would be best to go ahead and read the series, therefore you can know every little detail like why Fang leaves her and all the page-turning suspense and action. It is quite a thriller. With tears and laughs, I could not put the book down. Until of course my mom demanded me to. :) <3!

For all of those who are repeatedly saying James Patterson's Maximum Ride novels are now terrible because of new changes, I think you should not just think of what you want to happen throughout the series. It's reality and if you don't like the books anymore no one is forcing you to still read it, and write your own stories then and see how other people comment. Chances are it might be just as bad.
