I had a good time reading thid novel and it gives me a little more insight of whst to expect for my trip to Tarawa. Let's see if much has changed in a decade.

Little slow to get into, but it does make you laugh and make you realize that you don't need everything!

Was okay, some chapters I felt I wanted to skip to move along. His China book is much better.

J. MAARTEN TROOST’s essays have appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, the Washington Post, and the Prague Post. He spent two years in Kiribati in the Equatorial Pacific and upon his return was hired as a consultant by the World Bank. After several years in Fiji, he recently relocated to the U.S. and now lives with his wife and son in California.
