About this ebook

A swoony, small town romance from USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix!

My rules: No players. No flirts. No cocky jerks.

My exception: Dawson Marsh.

Dawson might be every girl’s crush in this small town, but not mine. I can appreciate him from a distance, and that suits me fine.

Except that one time he kissed me. Up close and personal.

Once is a mistake. But the second time? Sublime.

The man should come with some kind of a warning sign: Not safe for work! Hot to the touch! But what kind of girl can’t handle a little friends with benefits action, right?

The one who missed the most important warning: Danger, risk of falling.

Evie & Dawson’s story is perfect for readers who love small town romance, firefighters, broody alpha heroes, smart sassy heroines, friends to lovers, opposites attract, slow burn, emotional romance with a dash of angst, plenty of swoon, and a deeply protective grumpy hero.

*A full-length, standalone romance.

The Stolen Heart Lodge is definitely a great series you can loose yourself in and a wonderful place to be. This book is about Dawson and Evie, who have been friends for two years and both work at Stolen Hearts. Dawson and Evie's relationship is of a playful nature; always teasing and pulling pranks on each other. It's been like that since the day they met. However, both of them are attracted to one another, but do not act upon it. Until one night, where Dawson gives in and kisses Evie. However, Evie knowing that Dawson is a big time player does not allow him to play with her and just tries to ignore the sparks that flew in that kiss. Evie has to protect her heart from the player that she believes Dawson to be, but Dawson does not show his real self to anyone. Even though Dawson and Evie are friends, Evie does not really know Dawson. As they get closer she starts to see Dawson differently and Dawson realizes that he enjoys his time with Evie. Dawson's father suffered from depression and used alcohol and drugs to escape the depression. Dawson is afraid that he may become his father and does not want to get too close to anyone, especially Evie who he cares for. However, he soon discovers that she is his light and wants to be with her. This book definitely has a happy ending. This whole series is wonderful. I highly suggest reading it.

Evie and Dawson are both employees of the Stolen Hearts Rescue and have known each other for a couple of years. She thinks he's out of her league and would never be interested in her, but he is. Behind the harmless flirtation has lurked a heart that was open to her but terrified of the darkness he felt at times. When they were together, she seemed to pull him from the shadows. When they first kissed, neither could deny the spark but Evie doubted that it was more than a one-time kiss and walked away from him. Dawson couldn't break the fear that he would turn out just like his father. After all, they both suffered from depression and there were time when Dawson's illness forced him to live in the shadows of his mind. Evie suffered from the death of her twin, just before they would have entered high school. That loss brought on feelings of distress and utter sadness too many times. When Dawson and Evie recognize the similar traits in each other, there's a hope that they can help the other mend. Watching the love between them grow was heartwarming and written so well. The characters are captivating and the plot, tightly woven. Break My Fall is a wonderful book that creates and holds its mood, pace and form from the first page to the last.

ONE INCREDIBLE TREAT!!! OMG! Wow! I'll get it out eventually. Maybe. Croix totally nailed this bad boy 100% on point with so many emotions it kept me riveted and frozen to my seat. I couldn't put this little jewel down had I wanted to. Sparks fly as drama, tension and intrigue ensues in epic proportions. One engaging storyline and thrilling plot propels this baby roaring to life brilliantly. Twists and turns abound with unexpected circumstances that make for one thrilling experience. Witnessing the trials and tribulations the characters struggled through blazed this baby together smooth as silk without a single crease. The characters are authentic and realistic with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Awesome job Croix, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
