About this ebook

In this high-stakes thriller, a #1 New York Times bestselling author introduces CIA agent Alisa Flynn, who is willing to go rogue if it means catching the most heartless band of criminals she's ever encountered.
When CIA agent Alisa Flynn flaunts the rules by breaking into a mansion in the middle of the night, she skillfully circumvents alarms and outwits guards only to find herself standing in billionaire Gabe Korgan's study . . . busted by Korgan himself. This could cost her her job unless, in a split second, she can turn the tables and try to convince him to join her on the most important mission of her life. In a ripped-from-the-headlines plot, schoolgirls in Africa have been kidnapped, and Alisa knows that Korgan has the courage, financial means, and high-tech weaponry to help rescue them. With so many innocent lives hanging in the balance, what she doesn't reveal is that one of those schoolgirls is like a little sister to her. But when the truth gets out, the stakes grow even higher. Calling in additional assistance from renowned horse whisperer Margaret Douglas, Alisa and Gabe lay their plans, only to see them descend into chaos as the line between right and wrong wavers before them like a mirage. Every path is strewn with pitfalls, each likely to get them—or the hostages—killed. But with the help of a brave team and a horse with the heart of a warrior, they might just get out of this alive.

I loved Chaos! It has been awhile since you have wrote about Margaret even though her role was mild in the overall story. I love how when you do choose to use her she always gives away one of her precious dogs to trauma patients. I also loved Chaos. The horse sounded so majestic and was truly problematic. I love all your books!

It's been a while since Iris Johansen has introduced a new character, which is exactly what she has done in Chaos. CIA agent Alisa Flynn is beyond amazing and although she does not have a connection to Eve Duncan, at least not yet, she does have some connection to some previous characters from some of Iris Johansen's past books. In Chaos, you will be reintroduced to Margaret Douglas and CIA Agent Jed Novak. Margaret Douglas is an animal whisper and we were first introduced to her in No Easy Target (2017) and she has made periodic appearances in a few books every since. CIA Agent Novak was first introduced in Smokescreen (2019) and he is manipulative and strong. Entering the scene with CIA agent Alisa Flynn is Sasha, Gilroy, Korgan, Masenak, Reardon, and Chaos. Chaos drops multiple subtle connections to previous Iris Johansen books. As previously mentioned, you have Margaret Douglas, who is considered an animal whisper and works on Summer Island training dogs. There is not a lot about Margaret Douglas's past that is mentioned. Then there is CIA Agent Novak, who we were all introduced to in Smokescreen, which took place in Maldara, Africa. Novak is still in Maldara when he is first brought into the story of Chaos, where he is still cleaning up after the major massacre that occurred there. If you have not read Smokescreen yet, it is a must but it is not a must in order to follow this story, as the mention of Maldara is only subtle. Alisa Flynn reminds me quite a lot of CIA agent Catherine Ling and I would be quite interested to see those two meet one another in a future book. Alisa has been so through so much since a young age, very similar to Sasha, which is what makes their connection so strong. Alisa is not trusting of many and is very focused on completing the task at hand. When Korgan is added to the story, Alisa appears to be focused on Sasha and Sasha only. However, Korgan somehow manages to break down some of those barriers, in what I would call the typical Iris Johansen fashion. Alisa and Korgan also have that sexual tension that all Iris Johansen fans are used to when it comes to Even Duncan and her husband Joe Quinn. Rating: 5 out of 5. This has to be one of Iris Johansen's best book so far and is Iris Johansen at her best. It was filled with action from the very beginning and keeps drawing you further and further in. Iris Johansen takes you on an emotional roller coaster filled with happiness, sadness, fear, and sexual tension. I found it very hard to put this book down to go to sleep. I just couldn't get enough. I hope that we get to see more of Alisa Flynn in the very near future and that she becomes another regular character of Iris Johansen's.
