About this ebook

New York Times bestselling author Hannah Howell pens a sweeping romance set against the breathtaking Scottish Highlands, where a young woman holding a warrior hostage tries to resist his passionate seduction . . .

Lady Sorcha Hay is devastated to learn that English soldiers are holding her young brother captive. Penniless, the only way she can pay for his freedom is by taking a hostage for ransom herself. Her captive—a wounded knight plucked from the battlefield—is furious to be imprisoned by a woman. But nothing will stop Sorcha from keeping Sir Ruari Kerr enslaved, even as the sight of his bronzed body sets her mind reeling and her senses afire . . .

With her dark mane and soft curves, Sorcha is everything Ruari has ever desired in a woman. As she tends to his wounds, Ruari fights the intense attraction that ignites at her very touch. But he can’t afford to lose his heart to his tempting captor. For when he’s finally rescued by his men, Sorcha will pay dearly for her treachery—and loving her could put both their lives in peril . . .

A re release of the book Lady Sorcha Hay is devastated to learn that English soldiers are holding her young brother captive. But nothing will stop Sorcha from keeping Sir Ruari Kerr enslaved, even as the sight of his bronzed body sets her mind reeling and her senses afire. With her dark mane and soft curves, Sorcha is everything Ruari has ever desired in a woman. As she tends to his wounds, Ruari fights the intense attraction that ignites at her very touch. A very good read but I thought it was familiar, when I looked at the author’s books I found it is a re release & was originally published twenty years ago. The story is well paced & the characters very well portrayed. However I found Ruari was portrayed as very much a hero of a 1990’s book & would have preferred that he & his actions had been updated. If you love the author’s books you’ll like this but have probably already read it My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Sorcha and her family must raise funds to ransom back her brother and come upon Sir Ruari Kerr and cousin wounded on the battlefield. Thus commences Ruari and Sorcha's rocky journey to find love in the midst of Englishmen, ghosts and fellow clansmen. Read this book in print many years ago and really enjoyed re-visiting it in ebook. This author spins a tale of humor, interesting family and characters as well as a good love story. Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

I have read all of Hannah Howell's stories and this is actually a reprint of one from 1996. The author is a master of the highlander and Scottish romance. She immerses the reader in the times and brings the characters alive with her prose. This story has a twist in that the heroine, Lady Sorcha Hay takes the hero, Sir Ruari Kerr captive to be ransomed, along with his cousin Beatham. You see, her brother Laird Dougal was taken by the English and she needs the money to get him back! But the best laid plans do not always work as expected and secrets abound. Intrigue, unwanted suitors and suspense bring this story full circle with the attraction between Sorcha and Ruari being explosive. But as the ransom money's are exchanged, Sorcha gets her brother back and Ruari leaves to go back to his family. Will her heart be lost? Will they ever come together or will fate keep them apart? This is a fast paced story with several storylines happening at the same time that will keep you glued to the pages until the very end!
