About this ebook

The first novel in the Forerunner Saga trilogy by science fiction legend Greg Bear—set in the Halo universe and based on the New York Times bestselling video game series!

One hundred thousand years ago, the galaxy was populated by a great variety of beings.

But one species—eons beyond all others in both technology and knowledge—achieved dominance.

They ruled in peace, but met opposition with quick and brutal effectiveness.

They were the Forerunners—the keepers of the Mantle of Responsibility, the next stage of life in the Universe’s Living Time.

And then they vanished.

This is their story.

I usually don't read books but I gave this one a try because I wanted to know more of the lore behind Halo games. I ended up reading this book in two days!

After all the buildup of the main Halo canon, I was hesitant that anyone could write this story well enough to give it proper justice. I was incorrect in feeling that way. It does start a bit slow, but once it goes in, it goes ham. There's fantastic bits of everything in this series. Push thru, you won't regret it.

It can be a bit slow near the beginning, but when it picks up the pace, it hooks you!
