About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller!

From the masterful minds of Grant Morrison (FINAL CRISIS, THE MULTIVERSITY) and Yanick Paquette (SWAMP THING, BATMAN, INC.) comes the most provocative origin of Wonder Woman you’ve ever seen--a wholly unique retelling that still honors her origins.

For millennia, the Amazons of Paradise Island have created a thriving society away from the blight of man. One resident, however, is not satisfied with this secluded life--Diana, Princess of the Amazons, knows there is more in this world and wants to explore, only to be frustrated by her protective mother, Hippolyta. Diana finds her escape when Air Force pilot Steve Trevor, the first man she has ever seen, crashes onto their shores. With his life hanging in the balance, Diana ventures into the long-forbidden world of men. The Amazons chase after her and bring her back to Paradise Island in chains to face trial for breaking their oldest law--staying separated from the world that wronged them.

Thought-provoking yet reverent, thoroughly modern but still timeless, the power and courage of Paradise Island’s greatest champion--Wonder Woman--is introduced in this addition to DC Comics’ NEW YORK TIMES best-selling EARTH ONE original graphic novel series.

Absolutely dreadful. Terrible characters, story, and a hamstrung message. Not really all that different to mainline WW, don't get why they wasted the Earth One brand on this, 'cept for the fact it's an OGN. The art's nice, but not nice enough. Disappointing considering how excellent E1 can be (ex. Superman). I'm all for feminism (for the most part), but this book is just stupid.

Great writing that calls back to the roots of Wonder Woman, gorgeous art style, and a more modern approach of the character. What's not to love? Grant Morrison is a genius

A very interesting take on the Wonder Woman mythos, taking inspiration from mythology, current affairs and comic history. Some people would definitely dislike this, but then again Wonder Woman has always been a feminist and if that irks you, well that's your issue. As for the volume itself it is obviously leading to something bigger, with Volume 2 due for release soon. Diana is still basically the same as before, but she doesn't really wield any weapons besides words and some weird bondage stuff. Even Etta (Beth) Candy shows up. Of course no story about Wonder Woman is complete without Steve Trevor - who is black in this rendition. As for Hippolyta well she's even more possessive and manipulative then before. I'll leave you to read the rest and make up your own mind. As for me I can't wait for the release of volume 2. Easily one of the best of the Earth One collection alongside GL Earth One in my opinion.
