About this ebook

Jack Ryan Jr. is caught in the cross-hairs of a would-be tyrant in this exhilarating thriller in Tom Clancy's #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Jack Ryan, Jr., is on his own. He's been ousted from his position at the Campus, the off-the-books intelligence agency that was set up by his father, the President. As if that's not bad enough, someone is out for Jack‘s blood. The police think that he was just the victim of a mugging, but he knows a professional assassin when he kills one.

Using clues found on his would-be dispatcher, Jack launches his own shadow campaign to uncover the brutal truth about a world-renowned philanthropist and human rights advocate—and a long-running false-flag war of terror that has claimed thousands of lives....

I5 was a decent read, but like under fire, grants previous attempt at the clancy universe, comes off as a bit shallow and underwhelming. It is almost as if jack ryan is an American james bond, going off half cocked and taking on the evil villain. Complete with inept guards and elaborate means of execution, allowing the hero to save the day in the nick of timeThat is not to say it's not a fun read, but except for the main characrers name being "jack ryan" this could be any other action adventure hero.

After quitting 'Under Fire' half way through the book, I decided to give Blackwood a 2nd chance with this book. Unfortunately, same result. I'm not a fan of the writing style or the plot. I found myself not caring about the characters or how the book ends. Another donation to Goodwill. This series needs a new writer to revive it.

About the author

A little more than thirty years ago Tom Clancy was a Maryland insurance broker with a passion for naval history. Years before, he had been an English major at Baltimore’s Loyola College and had always dreamed of writing a novel. His first effort, The Hunt for Red October—the first of the phenomenally successful Jack Ryan novels—sold briskly as a result of rave reviews, then catapulted onto the New York Times bestseller list after President Reagan pronounced it “the perfect yarn.” From that day forward, Clancy established himself as an undisputed master at blending exceptional realism and authenticity, intricate plotting, and razor-sharp suspense. He passed away in October 2013.

Grant Blackwood is the New York Times bestselling author of the Briggs Tanner series (End of Enemies, Wall of Night, and Echo of War). He is coauthor of the #1 New York Times bestseller Dead or Alive, with Tom Clancy, and of the thriller The Kill Switch, with James Rollins. A U.S. Navy veteran, Grant spent three years aboard a guided missile frigate as an Operations Specialist and a Pilot Rescue Swimmer. He lives in Arizona, where he is working on his own stand-alone series starring a new hero.
