Heartwarming introduction to how Tucker Mouse and Harry Cat met as babies and forged a friendship for life. Sets the stage for The Cricket In Times Square but deserves praise for being such a sweet and loving story in its own right. Wish Selden wrote more parts though.

My daughter and I loved this "origin story", the drawings really add a special touch to the book.

About the author

George Selden (1929-89) wrote many highly acclaimed children's books, including the Newbery Honor Book The Cricket in Times Square.

Garth Williams (1912-96) illustrated all seven of the Chester Cricket books and many other works, including Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web.
