Ratings and reviews

I think the book was good and reflected on the particular historical event very well. I enjoyed all drawings and particularly, the plot until Vibiana died. I thought it just left something to be desired when the main character died before the story ended. However, it was still historically accurate and made sense so I can't really complain. It was, over all, a good read and If Gene Luen Yang wrote another book about this topic, (besides BOXERS), I would probably enjoy that too.

Gene Luen Yang began drawing comic books in the fifth grade. He was an established figure in the indie comics scene when he published his first book with First Second, American Born Chinese, which is now in print in over ten languages. American Born Chinese's critical and commercial success, along with its status as a National Book Award finalist and winner of the Printz Award, catapulted Yang into stardom as a major voice of our times. Boxers & Saints is his most recent graphic novel.
