About this ebook

Gail Simone (Batgirl, Birds of Prey) gives the iconic fantasy heroine a fresh new attitude! Red Sonja, the She-Devil with a Sword, intends to pay back a blood debt owed to the one man who has gained her respect... even if it means leading a doomed army to their certain deaths! Who is Dark Annisia, and how has this fearsome warrior accomplished what no god nor demon has been able to do: force Sonja to her knees in surrender? An epic tale of blood, lust, and vengeance, Queen of the Plagues takes Red Sonja from the depths of her own grave to the heights of battlefield glory. Featuring Gail Simone's Red Sonja #1 script!

This is a enjoyable adventure that packs a lot into it's six issues. There is sword play, deceptive nobles, twists, tenderness, comedy and compelling narrative with just enough sexiness to lure the eye. The artwork - including the cover gallery - is exceptional throughout and the colors pop off the page. This book is a good read for comic book fans and adventure fans alike and a good entry into the world of Red Sonja.

Sonja's appearance may seem like it would make the story a cheap fanservice rag, but she is one of the strongest female characters I have seen in comics, Sonja is fierce. despite being 80% naked 90% of the time by page 4 your really don't realize it and get lost in an adventure featuring one badass woman that doesn't take !@#$ from anyone. Will be buying vol 2!
