About this ebook

#1 New York Times bestselling author Frederick Forsyth delivers an international thriller that takes readers into the darkest hearts of men and nations…

In a remote corner of the impoverished African republic of Zangaro lies Crystal Mountain. At certain times of the day, the mountain itself seems to glow with a strange light. Only the ruthless and untouchable tycoon Sir James Manson knows why: the mountain contains billions of dollars worth of the world’s most valuable mineral—platinum. And he wants it all.

To do so, he must first remove the unfriendly government currently in power and replace it with a puppet regime. Towards this end, Manson hires the deadly Cat Shannon and his team of mercenaries to do the dirty work. But he didn’t realize how bloody things were going to get. And when he betrays the mercenaries to a brutal fate, he doesn’t realize how far Shannon is willing to go for revenge…

Don't read this unless you want to get to know how the Swiss banking system works in intricate detail. The book starts off strong and has a good final act, but the middle is unbelievably boring. Lots of detail about moving money around to buy ammunition, guns and transportation but almost no action, noteworthy dialog or anything else worth reading.

This book is about a militaristic coup. It goes into detail about the various aspects of regime change. It is similar to Day of the Jackal in that is has a lot of discussion and set up about the intricacies of executing a difficult political plot. It is very informative and enlightening when it goes into specifics about how financial tactics relate to political control. For these reasons, it is well-worth the price and deserves to be read by a wider audience or by anyone looking to know more about militaristic and political techniques that could greatly affect a government.
