There are some things you can't leave behind...

In If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, a broken-down camper hidden deep in a national forest is the only home fifteen year-old Carey can remember. The trees keep guard over her threadbare existence; the one bright spot is Carey's younger sister, Jenessa, who depends on Carey for her very survival. All they have is each other, as their mentally ill mother comes and goes with greater frequency. Until that one fateful day their mother disappears for good, and two strangers arrive. Suddenly, the girls are taken from the woods and thrust into a bright and perplexing new world of high school, clothes and boys.

Now, Carey must face the truth of why her mother abducted her ten years ago, while haunted by a past that won't let her go... a dark past that hides many a secret, including the reason Jenessa hasn't spoken a word in over a year. Carey knows she must keep her sister close, and her secrets even closer, or risk watching her new life come crashing down.

I don't normally write reviews but this book resonated so deeply within that I couldn't put it down and had to encourage everyone to read it. What I write here doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of this incredible story. You completely lose yourself within these pages. I read it in one night. I've experienced a huge amount of trauma in my life but I never ever would be able to so eloquently describe the journey from victim to survivor. Her fierce love, courage, protection and defense as mother to her sister is a story I've lived. You took us on a journey, Emily Murdoch, deep into the heart and soul of a character who's strength and courage humble me. Beautifully written. Beautiful use of excerpts and pieces of poetry and music to set the soundtrack to her path out of the woods. I wait with bated breath for your next masterpiece. Never stop writing! Its your calling.

I like the book yes it's a bit sad but it's also intriguing. To know how even tho her life was hard she did the best. How she could educate and raise her sister at such a young age. I think people should read this book

I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll just say if you enjoy reading, you'll not be able to put this read down. It's as if the pages turn themselves.
