About this ebook

Demons by USA Today bestselling author Ednah Walters. Book 1 of Eirik trilogy. Enjoy the story of a god and a Mortal girl who becomes his guiding light

Eirik Baldurson—son of Baldur, God of Light—failed living as a Mortal. He lost the girl of his dreams and nearly got his friends killed. Now, he's gone to the underworld to meet the mother he’s never known. Torn between his duty to her and the man he used to be, Eirik struggles to find himself, until a witch appears in his world. Feisty and stubborn, she is a reminder of everything good he left behind.

Celestia Devereaux proudly attends a charter high school for “gifted” teenagers who embrace magic. Witches. However, she keeps a terrible secret—a prediction that she would one day be responsible for massive destruction and death. Though Celestia uses her clairvoyant abilities to help people, she worries that it is just a matter of time before she goes over to the dark side.

Her world changes when she unexpectedly astral projects to a place she didn’t believe existed and meets a tortured man who needs her help. Will helping him cause her fears to come true, or will he sacrifice everything to save her?

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review* Holy Hel, Ednah Walters has written another fantastic Norse YA book! This one revolves around Eirik, who we first met in past Runes books as a sweet, boy-next-door type, slightly broody and crushed after his love rejected him for someone else while he’s otherwise occupied learning about his new-found Asgardian relatives. Now we follow him into Hel to meet the mother he never know… who just so happens to be the goddess Hel herself. Sounds like there’s a lot of emotion and tension that can happen already right? Well, Ms Walters add some humor, mischief, and attraction by throwing in Celestia—a spunky, independent, proud Witch from Louisiana who astral projects into other places to offer those who need saving help. But this time, she’s not sure how to help Eirik, oh and not worrisome at all: she’s never projected into another Realm (let alone knew it existed) before. Once again, the Norse mythology is seamlessly ingrained, the realms beautifully imagined and the characters are unique, frustrating, lovable, complex, and well-developed yet grow throughout the book, with the dual POV giving insight into both minds. If I’m ever in Hel, I hope to become friends with strong-willed Celestia, fierce hottie Eirik, snarky giantess Trudy, and of course the grimnirs (Hel-lo Rhys!). Although slightly slow at first, the refreshers in Norse terminology and the back story at the beginning was a helpful transition from the last Runes books. The action and surprises were abundant at the end, and thank the gods I only have to wait 3 months to see where Celestia and Eirik go from here in the next book. Demons might be my new favorite Runes book...

Disclaimer, I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. There simply are not enough stars to properly rate this excellent book. Well here I am writing my review for Demons which saddens me as this means I have come to the end. Eirik, WOW, he now kinda rocks my world, he is totally badass. When I first met Eirik (from the book of course) he was a nice guy, he was a good friend with Raine (childhood mates) and he liked taking his camera everywhere taking photos. Well the nice guy done gone and grown some, mmm hhh. This book finds Eirik being put in a position where he comes face to face with his parents, Baldur and his goddess mother Hel. He had no idea what to expect, neither did I let me tell you. The way Ednah describes Hel (the Goddess not the place) shows her to be a very powerful character who is stunningly captivating and scary as HEL. Everyone is scared of her except Baldur..Baldur appears to be the total opposite from Hel, he comes across as more laid back and more approachable and willing to listen but he is madly in love with Hel he would doing anything for her. He proves his strengths in the book. We also get to meet the lovely Celestia, a young and powerful witch who has impressive gifts kinda makes me so want to be her. She has a habit of talking a lot. Celestia and Eirik interact a lot in the book so we get a good look at who they are, how the think and feel and their interaction together. Why is Celestia in Hel! I love the whole description of Hel's Hall and the people that live there, I'm thinking of going there for my next holiday (I wish)!! Seriously you will fall in love with the place, the only downside is it is a bit cold. I must admit that when I heard that this book was coming out I was hoping to have Raine in it too but, and I'm sorry about this, I did not miss her or any of the other characters from within the Runes series. This book just adds more flavour to the series and we get to meet new characters who you will either love or hate and it has in it my most favourite of mythical creatures. Now that was a surprise I must say, a nice one for me. Thank you Ednah. This book gives us an explanation of the happenings after Eirik agreed to go to Hel's Hall with the delectable Echo, sorry its a cameo role for him, but we do get to see Rhys again. It would be advisable to read the other books in the series if you have not already done so to get yourself to the point where Demons starts. They are all the most amazing reads, each one better than the next. You will be left gagging for the next book as I am right now. Next year, its just to far away to have to wait. The book is written in the dual point of view, Celestia and Eirik but Ednah has made sure that it works well as she always does. Happy reading everyone.

*I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.* I was very excited to get the chance to read an ARC of this book because I love the Rune series!! It was really nice to finally get Eirik's perspective as he had been a smaller character up until now. While I was not overly attached to him from the earlier books, I can say I am now. He is a lot stronger mentally then I previously gave him credit for as well as more God like then I thought. His parents were quite the characters in each of their own ways and were very entertaining to read about. I can say I have a new respect for Hel and her methods of doing things. We also got a new Character for Eirik as a possible love interest. Celestia is my new all time favorite character as she is sweet, snarky, and very strong willed. She reminds me of myself as a teenager except for the witch part. I have now started to call her my soul sister and I can't wait until the next book comes out!!! If you like the other books in the Runes series, you will love this one as well. I even pre ordered my paid for copy so that I can read the extra bit that is in those copies!
