Fantastic read.
I am a companion to a lady who lived in Vienna from the early twenties and was ousted out of Austria in 1939 her stories of that time are fascinating, Reading this book gave me an insight not only of her life but in reading the part when the writer was describing Vienna brought this lady's own life to the fore. I have since gave her the book as a gift and she too was enthralled by it So well done
About the author
Edmund de Waal's porcelain has been displayed in many museum collections around the world, and he has recently made an installation for the dome of the Victoria and Albert Museum. He was apprenticed as a potter, studied in Japan, and studied English at Cambridge. He is Professor of Ceramics at the University of Westminster and lives in London with his family.
