Edgar Wallace was the master of the improbable plot. That's whats needed to make a good thriller mystery. He was a product of his time, and Britain at this time turned out some of the greatest minds, and most adventurously imaginative people in all history. Yes, he evidences some of the bigotry of his time. Even so I find him less prejudiced and narrow minded than this current politically correct , immoral and yet puritanically confined within its own strictures, current generation. Broaden your horizons and also expand your vocabulary.Brevity isn't always the soul of wit. Some times it just displays a atrophied descriptive ability. So millenials be prepared for some longer sentences. Grow up and try to read and enjoy this fine assemblage of the Edgar Wallace canon. Suspend disbelief snd enjoy being astonished and perplexed.
