About this ebook

The world’s most famous demonologists, Ed & Lorraine Warren, were called in to help an average American family who were assaulted by forces too awesome, too powerful, too dark, to be stopped. It’s a true story, supported by dozens of eyewitnesses—neighbors, priests, police, journalists, and researchers. The grim slaughterhouse of odors. The deafening pounding. The hoofed half-man charging down the hall. The physical attacks, a vicious strangling, failed exorcisms, the succubus... and the final terror which continued to torment the Smurls. In this shocking, terrifying, deeply absorbing book rivaled only by The Amityville Horror—a case also investigated by the Warrens—journalist Robert Curran digs deep into the haunting of the Smurl home in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, and the unshakeable family bonds that helped them survive. Don’t miss the Warrens' blockbuster films The Conjuring and Annabelle (in theaters October, 2014.)

When it comes to paranormal activity, I am an admitted skeptic. As with anything tied to events such as this, its next to impossible to substantiate because one must rely on hearsay. If you are interested in reading about these events from the Smurls point of view, I think you'll like this book. I'll never understand why Janet and Jack Smurl chose to continue to subject their children to such abject terror. As a parent, it makes me doubt their story.

I enjoyed this book even though I don't believe in ghosts and demons. Some of the Smurls claims were far fetched, even for a believer; but it was entertaining and killed a rainy afternoon

I love all things supernatural, but it's hard to find good books in the genre. I love books that tell true stories of hauntings, but they are often poorly written or just don't hold my attention. I couldn't put this book down. I love reading about Ed and Lorraine's career, and this case was an exceptionally interesting one. It kept me hooked to the very end.
