While first two volumes focused on the story of men around Josephine, this part finally sheds some light on the mysterious cult, other "femmes fatales" before Jo and even manage to push the story forward a bit. Well-written backstory manages to almost explain some thing while raising several new questions. I must say that I am hooked.

I loved the previous stories, these feel like they are running out of steam. Kind of a huge bummer.

About the author

Ed Brubaker has won the Best Writer Award in the Harveys and the Eisners five times since 2006. His work with Sean Phillips on Sleeper, Criminal, Incognito, and Fatale (from Image Comics), has been translated around the world to great acclaim. He was raised partly on Navy bases, and began school in Cuba, on the Naval base at Guantanamo Bay. He credits being forced to go to his mother's AA meetings throughout much of his childhood with planting the seed of writing in his brain, and his father's love of comics and movies for nurturing it. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Melanie and their dog Watson, where he works in comics, film, and television. And he hates writing about himself in third person, but what's he gonna do?

Sean Phillips is a British comic book artist, known for his work on DC Comics' Sleeper, WildC.A.T.s, Batman, Hellblazer and Image Comics' Fatale.
