This series is a relaunch of the classic Judge Dredd character rooted deeply in it's 2000 AD origins. The artwork - with it's exaggerated costumes and decaying Mega City One - and muscular, unforgiving stories all could have come from the original English comic. There are nods to modern tech and sentiments, but it is the throwback Dredd that I most loved. There is plenty of action and unmerciful judgements although the book has more gore than I remember from my youth. Also, Mega City One is placed front and center with it's decaying society, sense of malaise and immoral inhabitants. A good Judge Dredd story always leans heavy on the Mega City and this book certainly does that. This series started with a bang and shows a lot of promise and will keep me reading.

Short, to the point, bloody, decent story.
