Dr. Angeli Maun Akey is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative and Holistic Medicine and trained in Functional and Regenerative Medicine.


Dr. Akey is the founding medical director of North Florida Integrative Medicine, Ageless Medical Solutions, and the Palm Beach Institute of Preventive Medicine. She has been in clinical practice for 27 years. Her interests in healing traditions have led her to previously teach at the Florida School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She now specializes in both the detection of chronic disease at its earliest stage and in the slowing or reversal of its progression.


Her undergraduate degree was obtained at the University of Florida, where she was accepted on six academic scholarships. She was subsequently the youngest person ever admitted to the University of Florida College of Medicine Junior Honors Medical Program. She also served in the US Public Health Service (USPHS) in medical school and has taught as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Yale University, where she did her internal medicine residency and served as a Chief Resident.


She currently precepts UF medical students as a courtesy Clinical Assistant Professor and teaches them the FIRRIMupTM approach to navigating and solving complex medical problems. She is the author of the book, and audiobook, Fine-Tune Your Hormone Symphony (2011) which describes the FIRRIMup™ model in detail. Dr. Akey is a sought-after national and international speaker at medical conferences where she has taught and presented this model in the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Poland, Spain, Italy, and France. She and Dr. O'Neil-Smith have a passion to educate consumers in the FIRRIMup™ Model and have partnered to form FIRRIMupDoctors.com for web-based learning.

Dr. Kathleen O'Neil-Smith is a magna cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her postgraduate training in Pathology at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital, and in Internal Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She has a degree in exercise physiology and has been an athlete on the U.S. national rowing team for 40 years and a coach for six years. She has worked as an office and hospital-based internist. In 2008, she shifted to Functional and Regenerative Medicine after completing a two-year fellowship. She completed a stem cell certification through A4M and a TBI certification through AMMG.


She has extensive experience using peptides and medicinal signaling therapies in her private medical practice. She treated her only son with such therapies when he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), and she was told the prognosis was slim that he would return to normal function. He recently graduated with a math degree, two years after his TBI, and is currently working in investment management in San Francisco.


She has had a direct access practice in Functional, Integrative, and Regenerative Internal Medicine in Boston for the past eleven years. Dr. Kathleen is an international thought leader in best practices in regenerative medicine, and in the clinical use of peptide therapy. She is an innovative and compassionate doctor. Her teaching style is approachable, friendly, and creative. She makes complex ideas simple, which is a testimony to her early career as a high school science teacher and college rowing coach prior to her medical training.
