About this ebook

The bestselling author of The Mozart Effect taps cutting- edge science to show how we can use sound to improve our lives and achieve our goals.

Based on over a decade of new research, Don Campbell, bestselling author of The Mozart Effect, and Alex Doman, an expert in the practical application of sound and listening, show how we can use music-and silence-to become more efficient, productive, relaxed, and healthy.

Each chapter focuses on a single aspect of everyday life, providing advice, exercises, wide-ranging playlists, and links so readers can use the music they love to create the perfect soundtrack for any goal or task. Also included are "Sound Profiles"-brief stories showing how real people creatively tap the power of sound to improve their own and others' lives.

Inspiring, practical, and truly enjoyable, Healing at the Speed of Sound opens the door to a fuller, richer, and much more harmonious life.

My name is Xena Cuevas and I'm 12 years old & i go to the school I.S.230 in Jackson heights, i went to the library of "Barnes & Nobles" because i love reading books and when i grow up i want to be a writer. I choose your book because the cover seemed interesting and you know what they say "don't judge a book by it's cover" but it wasn't only the cover, i started reading the blur and the sentence "how what we hear transforms our lives and our brains" and your book caught my attention i also picked out other books. I read all of the books i choose, and when i finally got to your book, i couldn't stop reading, i was very surprised of all the things you say like how music and sounds affect our mood. I also like that even though it's a high-level book for me to read it, i can actually understand it! i tried what you said listening to a different type of music one that relaxes me more and when i was in school i was calm and i felt in peace. My usually daily routine, is I get up at 6:15, take a shower, dress up, and when i'm taking a shower i usually put rock music 'cause i like it and then i put on the radio (listen to pop), eat breakfast, go to school by train while listening to my ipod touch, and when i get there everything usually stresses me out. Then i get home, sleep, do homework until 9:00 and then watch tv. i tried your method and it works to me. I will keep reading your book because it's very interesting. Thanks a lot ...
